Three teams. Three championships. Two unforgettable days for Mason Athletics!

In a remarkable 48-hour stretch, Mason High School captured three Greater Miami Conference championships — all against conference rival Sycamore! Girls Volleyball extended its historic GMC winning streak, Boys Soccer became the conference's all-time championship leader, and Girls Soccer tied the league record for most titles.
The championship celebration began Tuesday with victories by Girls Volleyball and Boys Soccer before Girls Soccer completed the trifecta Wednesday with a memorable Senior Night win.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL — GMC CHAMPIONS!
106 STRAIGHT GMC VICTORIES! 11 CONSECUTIVE UNDEFEATED CONFERENCE SEASONS!

The Mason Girls Volleyball dynasty continues! The Comets, led this season by head coach Eric Schatzle, clinched another outright GMC championship Tuesday with a four-set victory over Sycamore, 25-18, 21-25, 25-20, 25-15.
The Mason program has now won an astonishing 106 consecutive GMC matches, completing 11 straight seasons without a conference defeat. This remarkable streak, built through the efforts of generations of Comet players and coaches, dates back to September 15, 2015, when Mason last lost a league match to Lakota East.
The Comets have now captured or shared 13 GMC championships in the past 14 seasons, continuing a tradition of excellence that dates back to 1984.
Mason (16-5 overall, 9-0 GMC) will close its regular season Thursday at Kings before beginning postseason tournament competition.

BOYS SOCCER — GMC CO-CHAMPIONS!
COMETS BLANK SYCAMORE 1-0 FOR HISTORIC 14TH GMC TITLE!

Mason Boys Soccer made conference history Tuesday night, defeating previously unbeaten GMC leader Sycamore 1-0 to earn a share of the 2026 championship with the Aviators.
Entering the contest, Sycamore stood 8-0 in conference play, leaving Mason in a must-win situation. Junior Liam Stamp delivered the championship-winning goal off an assist from senior Tiar Begzhan, while the Comet defense preserved the shutout.
Under head coach Garrett Szabo, Mason overcame its only GMC loss, a 2-1 setback at Fairfield on September 10, to finish 10-5-1 overall and 8-1 in conference play.
The victory secured Mason's 14th overall GMC championship, moving the Comets past Fairfield into sole possession of the conference's all-time boys soccer title record, dating back to 1975.
Mason has now captured eight GMC championships in the past nine seasons, continuing one of the conference's most successful runs.
The Comets will now await postseason tournament seeding.

GIRLS SOCCER — GMC CO-CHAMPIONS!
SENIOR NIGHT TO REMEMBER! COMETS DEFEAT SYCAMORE 2-1 FOR 11TH GMC TITLE!

It was a Senior Night celebration to remember Wednesday as Mason Girls Soccer defeated Sycamore 2-1, earning a share of the 2026 GMC championship with the Aviators!
The victory secured Mason's 11th overall GMC Girls Soccer title, tying the conference record for the most championships, outright or shared, since the league began recognizing girls soccer in 1977.
Under head coach Sami Cunningham, the Comets delivered when it mattered most. Bella Anderson and Liana Kim scored Mason's goals, while Kim and Thea Pfimister provided assists in the championship-clinching victory.
For Mason's seniors, the evening was especially memorable, combining recognition of their dedication and contributions with a conference championship celebration.
Mason (11-3-2) closes its regular season Saturday, October 17, at Anderson, before opening OHSAA postseason play Monday, October 26, at home against Hamilton.

THREE TEAMS. THREE TITLES. TWO DAYS. ONE COMET NATION!

Three GMC championships against the same conference rival in just 48 hours — an extraordinary accomplishment that adds another proud chapter to Mason's athletic tradition!

The titles further reinforce the championship culture that has helped Mason capture 19 consecutive GMC All-Sports Championships entering the 2026–27 school year.
Congratulations to head coaches Eric Schatzle, Garrett Szabo and Sami Cunningham, their coaching staffs and all three championship teams!
