MASON, Ohio — September 16, 2026 — The Mason Boys Golf team is once again on top of the Greater Miami Conference!

The Comets captured the 2026 GMC Championship following two days of outstanding golf, September 15–16 at Glenview Golf Course. Mason finished with a 36-hole team total of 606, edging runner-up Lakota East by just two strokes at 608.

The victory marks the sixth GMC championship in Mason Boys Golf program history, adding another conference crown to the Comets' tradition of success.

The championship was a true team achievement for Mason. All six Comet golfers contributed a counting score during at least one of the tournament's two rounds, providing the depth necessary to bring the GMC trophy home.

Mason opened the championship with a 302 on Tuesday, taking a one-stroke advantage over Lakota East's 303 into Wednesday's final round.

The Comets quickly extended their lead on Day 2, building a 10-shot advantage early in the round. The Thunderhawks, however, mounted a strong back-nine charge and eventually pulled even with Mason with only a few holes remaining.

With the GMC championship hanging in the balance, the Comets responded.

Mason's four counting golfers played the 18th hole in a combined 2-under par, providing the decisive finishing touches to a memorable two-stroke championship victory.

SIX COMETS EARN ALL-GMC HONORS

Mason's championship performance was highlighted by six All-GMC selections, including three First-Team honorees.
