Mason opened their 2021-22 season at home last Friday, defeating Tri-Village HS in the first round of the Ohio Valley Hoops Classidc. Final score 60-47.

Leading the way for Mason were a trio of players: Todd Middletown and Matt Debrosse 14 and Jack Ullom with 12.

On Saturday, the Comet's played Hilliard Bradley, falling by a score of 54-47. It was a tight game at the half with the score tied at 26. Bradely pulled away in the fourth with a 13-4 scoring advantage.

Leaders for Mason: Todd Middleton and Ben Menker with 11. Middleton dished out 5 assists.

Next up for Mason Boys (1-1) is another home game on Tuesday vsersus Springboro.

 
11/30 Springboro won 69-57 2-1 0-0

The Comet Boys Basketball Team secured another non-conference win on Tuesaday night. Mason defeated visiting Springboro 69-57. Only two points separated the teams at the half. Mason fell behind at the end of three quarters, 47-43. The Comets outscored Springboro 22-14 in the final stanza to secure the win.

Leaders for Mason: Todd Middleton 18, Alex Morton 17 and Jack Ullom 16.

Next up, Mason boys start GMC play when they host Lakota West this coming Friday night.

 
12/3 West lost 71-50 2-2 0-1

The Comets hosted West this past Friday and fell by a score of 71-50. Mason led at the half 29-25. An "off" 4th quarter did not help matters.

Leading the way for Mason: Alex Morton 14 points and Todd Middleton 11.

Mason (2-2, 0-1) will host Middletown on Tuesday night.

 
12/7 Middletown lost 72-66 2-3 0-2

The Comets fell to Middletown on Tuesday by a score of 72-66. Mason fell behind 38-29 at the half, but rallied in the third and unfortunately couldn't get all the way back.

Jack Ullom led the Comets with 24 points. Alex Morton and Matt DeBrosse added 16 and 10, respectively. Ullom had a double-double with 14 rebounds on the nigtht.

Next up, Mason (2-3, 0-2) will visit Oak Hills on Friday.

Tonights game at Oak Hills has been postponed. The contest has been rescheduled for Saturday, Jan. 29th (all levels).

Next up, Mason will visit Lakota East on Tuesday, Dec. 14th.

 
12/14 @ East lost 78-52 2-4 0-3

Mason Boys bball suffered a 78-52 loss at Lakota East last night. The Hawks opened up a lead that the Comets could not overcome. Ben Menker and Jack Ullom let Mason with 10 points each.

Mason will get back to the courts on Friday when they host Fairfield.

On Friday, Dec. 17th Mason took a 80-50 loss at hands of visiting Fairfield. Leaders for Mason were: Alex Morton 14 and Ben Menker 12.

 
12/21 @ Kings won 83-77 3-5 0-4 The Comets earned a hard-fought 83-77 win at Kings on Tuesday, Dec. 21st. Leaders for Mason were: Alex Morton 25, Todd Middleton 16 and Ben Golan 12.  
12/28 Loveland won 57-37 4-5 0-4

Mason earned their 2nd stratight win on Tuesday, Dec. 28th with a home win vs. Loveland by a final score of 57-37. Leaders for the Comets were: Evan Ehlers 20 and Todd Middleton 12.

The Comets return to GMC action on Tuesday with a home game vs. Hamilton.

 
1/4 Hamilton lost 52-48 4-6 0-5

The Comets took a tough loss to visiting Hamilton on Tuesday night by a score of 52-48. Mason maintained a small lead for the first three quarters and then got outscored 17-12 in the fourth.

Leaders for Mason: Jack Ullom with 10 points. Jack had a double-double with 11 rebounds as well. Todd Middleton dished 7 assists.

Next up for Mason is a game at Sycamore this Friday, 1/7/22.

 
1/7 @ Sycamroe lost 61-44 4-7 0-6

Mason boys fell at Sycamore on Saturday by a score of 61-44. The Comets fell behind 28-20 at the half and could not make up the difference in the final two frames.

Leaders for Mason: Alex Morton and Jake Hanley both with 11 point contributions.

The Mason Girls Bball team took a rare loss to Lakota East last Wednesday. The Comets fell 55-50, ending a streak of wins dating back to the 2011-12 season.

The Comets trailed East by 3 at the half were not able to capitalize on 2nd oppurtunities. Mason shot a very good 67% from behind the arc, but East shot an amazing 83% (10-12).

Mason was led in scoring by three players: Kyla Oldacre and Madison Parrish with 13 and Carly Prows with 11.

The Comets (1-1) will seek to return to their winning ways when they host Fairfield on Saturday.

 
12/4 Fairfield won 61-19 2-1 1-1

Mason Girls bball returned to their winning ways on Saturday, blasting Fairfield at home 61-19. The game was never in doubt for the Comets.

Three players led Mason: Kyla Oldacre 16, Madison Parrish 12 and Carly Prows 11.

Next up, Mason 2-1, 1-1) will host Lakota West on Wednesday.

 
12/8 West won 55-28 3-1 3-1

Mason Girls Basketball thumped visiting Lakota West on Wednesday, 55-28. The Comets opened up a 27-12 lead at the half and never had to look back.

Three players led Mason: Kyla Oldacre 19 (10 rebounds), Carly Prows (5 assists) and Amanda Barnes 10 each.

Mason (3-1, 3-1) will visit Oak Hills on Saturday.

 
12/11 @ Oak Hills won 65-31 4-1 4-1

Mason Girls defeated Oak Hills on the road this past Saturday, 65-31. The Comets led 28-16 at the half and built on to that lead in the final two quarters. Leading scorers for Mason:

Amanda Barnes 15 points and Kyla Oldacre 10. Madison Parrish had 4 assists.

Next up for Mason girls is a game at home versus Middletown on Wednesday, Dec. 15th.

 
12/15 Middletown won 68-25 5-1 5-1

Mason Girls rolled Middletown on Wednesday, 68-25. High scorers for the Comtets were: Madison Parrish 15, Carly Prows and Bradyn Johnson each with 10.

Mason (5-1,5-1) will host Hamilton on Saturday.

Mason Girls Basketball played two regular season games before heading to Tennessee for a Holiday Tourney.

The Comets defeated Hamilton at home on Sat. Dec. 18th by a score of 70-29. Leaders for Mason were: Kyla Oldacre 16 and Amanda Barnes 15.

 
12/23 Ursuline won 59-44 7-1 6-1 On Thursday, Dec. 23rd, Mason hosted Ursuline and downed the Lions 59-44. Leaders for the Comets were: Madison Parrish 22, Kyla Oldacre 15 and Amanda Barnes 10. Oldacre notched a double-double with 10 rebounds.

Columbia Central

won 46-20 8-1  

The Comet girls played in the State Farm Classic in Murfreesboro, TN after Christmas and were crowned champions sweeping all three contests they played.

On Monday, Dec. 27th, the ladies defeated Columbia Central 46-20. Leading the way for Mason was Kyla Oldacre with 15 points and 15 rebounds.

vs. Middle Tenn Christian

won 58-49 9-1   On Tuesday, Dec. 28th Mason defeated Middle Tenn. Christian 58-49 to advance to the tourney finals. Mason's leaders were: Madison Parrish 22 points and Kyla Oldacre snarring 13 rebounds.

Murfreesboro, TN

vs.Cane Ridge

won 52-13 10-1 6-1

The Comet girls "sealed the deal" with a tourney championship win vs. Cane Ridge on Wednesday, Dec. 29th. Final score was a blow out win 52-13. Leaders for Mason were: Kyla Oldacre 18 points, and Carly Prows 10.

Mason (10-1, 6-1) returns to GMC play at Sycamore this Wednesday.

Msson Girls continued their winning ways on Wednesday, defeating Sycamore 59-33.

Leaders for the Comets: Madison Parrish 15 points and Gabby Razzano and Kyla Oldacre 10. Gabby dished out 5 assists as well.

This past Friday night Mason Boys competed against Indian Hill & Madeira in a Tri-meet a Mason. Scores and results below:


Boys - Mason 236, Madeira 200, Indian Hill 73




The boy's team had a great meet vs. Indian Hill & Madeira winning 9 out of 11 events! The team was led by senior Diego Fortson & Junior Max Plumley who each won 2 events. Diego won the 200 IM & 100 Butterfly while Max Plumley won the 50 Freestyle & 100 Backstroke. Other individual winners were Cole Scheidler winning the 100 Freestyle. Nischal Suhas winning the 500 Freestyle. All 3 relays won as well!

 



12/11 Lebaon/Princeton    

Saturday afternoon Mason boys swam vs. Lebanon & Princeton in a trimeet. See final results and recap below:

The boy's team continued their winning ways easily defeating Lebanon & Princeton. The team won 9 out of 11 events! Cole Scheidler & Max Plumley led the team with 2 wins each. Cole won the 100 Butterfly & 100 Backstroke while Max won the 200 IM & 500 Freestyle. Other wins were turned in by Diego Fortson in the 100 Breaststroke & Sean Huggins in the 200 Freestyle. All 3 relays won as well.

Next up for Mason Swimming/Diving is the CHCA/Badn Tri-meet at Mason on Friday, Dec. 17th.

Over the holiday break, Mason Swim and Dive took about 56 swimmers up to Miami University to compete in the Brave Invite. Both teams won by a large margin. Our boys’ team easily won outdistancing 2nd place Fenwick by over 150 points. There were over 15 teams participating in the invite.

The boys were led by Ian Burke, Ethan Butler, Tyler Houpt & Max Plumley. Ian won the 500 Freestyle, Ethan won the 200 IM, Tyler won the 100 Butterfly, while Max won the 50 Fly.

The meet for the girls was a solid team effort & great depth leading to an easy victory! The girl's only won 3 out of 11 events. Individual wins were turned in by Olivia Hastings in the 200 Freestyle & senior Maggie Korth in the 100 Breaststroke.

The girl's team had a very solid meet but came up short to a strong Lebanon team. Sophomore Olivia Hastings led the team with 2 individual wins in the 200 IM & 500 Freestyle. Megan Schoenlein & Lauren Varga each won 1 event. Megan in the 100 Butterfly & Lauren in the 100 Backstroke.

Mason Wrestling opened their season on Saturday at the Harrison Duals. The Comets finished 2-3 with wins against Franklin Central and Firelands and falling to Brownsburg, Roncalli and East Central.

The Mason girls bowling team started off their season on Monday defeating Cincinnati Christian 1601 to 1421. The girls were led by Laina Fish with a 286 (143) average.

The Comets followed up the first win with another win against Trotwood  1490 to 1139. They were led by Laina Fish again with a team high 263 (131)avg.

The girls bowling team did well this past Saturday at the Holiday Classic and Westesrn Bowl. They finished in the bottom third but several girls bowled their best rounds of the year.

One of them was Yana Parker, her 166, 123 series was her best series of the year. She led the team and held the top spot for the ladies team.

Next up for Mason is a home match vs. Franklin TODAY, Monday 12/13.

12/13 Franklin HS won 1907-1849 3-1 0-1
The Girls bowled Franklin on Monday and
won 1907 to 1849. The Ladies were led by Allison Batty who threw her first 200 game in a match. She Outdistanced her closest teammate by only 14 pins because Yana Parker also had her best series of the season shooting a 161 171 332 series.

12/15 @ Colerain HS lost 2416-1974 3-2 0-2

Mason girls lost to Colerain Cardinals 2416 to 1974 on Wednesday.. The Comets had one of their better days with Alexa Crociata and Marissa Crociata leading the way. Marissa had a 333 series with a high game of 188.

Next up Mason girls (3-2, 0-2) compete at the East-West Showdown at Western Bowl on January 2nd. The Comets then host Lakota East on Monday, Jan. 3rd.

@ East vs. West Showdown

Over the weekend the girls team traveled to Western bowl for the annual East vs West tournament.

 

The girls did well and earned a 3rd place in the east bracket, they managed a win in their first bracket and placed 6th overall for the day. Highlights for the girls was a top score for Maria Habra who was coming back after an injury to lead the girls with a 445 series.

Next up Mason will host Lakota East today, Monday, Jan. 3rd.

Mason girls bowling won their first match in the GMC on Monday defeating Lakota East 1874 to 1272.

The Comets were led by Marissa Crotiata's 327 series.

11/27 Kickoff Tourney        
The Mason Boys bowling team started the season this past weekend at the annual Kick Off Tourney with 2 wins and a good finish in a difficult tournament.
This tournament is designed to be a tough start to the season and lets you see where you stand in the state.
Mason boys finished 8th out of the 30 teams that were there and Ogden Nijakowski finished 10th overall as an individual.
11/29 Cin. Christian HS won 2615-1925 1-0   The boys defeated Cincinnati Christian on Monday, 11/29 to start off the year with a score of 2615 to 1925.Mason was led by Kyle Brackenridges 469 (235 avg).
11/30 @ Trotwood-Madison won 2109-1192 2-0  

The boys followed up on Tuesday with a victory over Trotwood 2109 to 1192. Mason was led by Aiden Hunt's 393 (196 avg) series.

Next up for boys bowling is the Big Blue Challenge on Saturday, Dec. 4th.

12/4 Big Blue Challenge (boys)        
The boys and girls teams bowled in the big blue tournament this weekend at Rollhouse lanes.

The Comet boys participated in the Big Blue Challenge on Saturday. Mason boys did very well coming in 4th out of 30 teams. They were led by Kyle Brackenridge who bowled a 633 3 game series. The high game in the match was bowled by Josh Steffan. His second game 243 was high for the Mason team.

Next up, Mason will host Lakota West today, Monday, Dec. 6th.

The Mason Boys Bowling team defeated Lakota West on Monday, 2899-2535. No other details provided.

The Comets (3-0, 1-0) will compete at the Holiday Classic on Sunday, Dec. 12th.

Holiday Classic (Boys)

@ Western Bowl

       

The Mason boys bowled in the Holiday tournament this past Sunday. They had 2 very good rounds placing them 3rd out of 32 teams. In the bracketed play they were able to knock off the 14th place team and the 6th place team to make it to the quarter finals. In the quarter finals they bowled very well but were knocked out by the Elder panthers in a very close competition.

Next up for Mason is a home match vs. Franklin TODAY, Monday 12/13.

12/13 Franklin HS won 2913-1884 4-0 1-0
The Men's bowling team had a great day on Monday defeating Franklin 2-13-1887 to stay unbeaten at 4-0 on the young season. The Comets did it with all members of the team contributing in some way. 

The teams was led by Ogden Nijikowski who had a 494 2 game series. The next closest teammate was Kyle Brackenridge who shot a 393 series.

The Comets will visit Colerain today, Wednesday, 12/15.
12/15 @ Colerain HS won 2948-2752 5-0 2-0

Mason boys traveled to Colerain to bowl the Cardinals this past Wednesday. The meeting promised to be a great match as both schools were tied at the top of the GMC, with similar game averages and top scores coming into the event. The afternoon meeting did not disappoint.

After the first round of ten individual games the teams were virtually tied at 2024 to 2020. Team games can be very volatile and you can sometimes lose 50-70 pins in a single game.

The Mason boys were phenomenal on this day! They started off with a 256 and never looked back. They ended up beating the Cards for the first time in school history with a final score of 2948 to 2752.  

The Comets were led by 2 terrific scores by Caden Graham and Ogden Nijikowski who both rolled team high 460 series.

Mason sits atop the GMC standings with Middletown at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the GMC. Next up Mason boys compete at the East-West Showdown at Western Bowl on January 2nd. The Comets then host Lakota East on Monday, Jan. 3rd.

Over the weekend the boy teams traveled to Western Bowl for the annual East vs West tournament.

 

 


The Mason boys team had a terrific day. Individually, they managed to have 2 boys place number 1 and number 2 overall for the day. Caden Graham missed a perfect game by one frame where he had a 9 spare. His total for the day was 698. Coming in second place was Ogden Nijikowski with a 660 series.

The boys finished in first place for the East side of the bracket but lost in the finals to Fairfield, putting them in second place overall.

Next up Mason will host Lakota East today, Monday, Jan. 3rd.

The Mason Boys Bowling team defeated East 2961 to 1592 on Monday to stay undefeated on the season.
The Comets had several noteworthy moments in the match.
Aiden Hunt struck on his first 10 in the second round. He had a solid game sparing and striling in the 10th for a phenomenal 289 Game. The boys also almost bowled a perfect Baker game throwing a 278 final game.
Mason was led by Josh Steffen who bowled a 235, 241 2-game series. 

Boys are now 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the GMC. They will host St. Xaiver on Thursday.
