REGIONAL SEMI-FINAL

vs. Wayne

@ Princeton, 8:00 pm

lost 55-51 20-1 14-0

A perfect season came to an end for the Mason Girls Basketball season at Wednesday nights Regional Semi-Final at Princeton HS. The Comets fell behind early, spotting Wayne a 16-point lead and then roaring from behind in the 2nd half. Unfortuantely the "come-back" effort fell just short as the Warriors fought off Mason, winning 55-51 to advance to Saturday's Regional Final against Mt. Notre Dame.

Mason acturally tied the game at 46-46 late in the fourth quarter. From there, Wayne countered with their own rally and Mason was forced to foul. The Warriors made their free throws to end the game and keep their season alive.

The Comets outshot Wayne 53% to 31% and outrebounded them 32-24 but Mason committed 19 turnovers to Wayne's eight.

Junior Kyla Oldacre had her best game ever, finishing with 29 points, seven rebounds and five blocks.

Mason's last loss was to Loveland in 2020. The Comets finisht the season 20-1, as GMC and District Champs. They'll return a bevy of underclassman next season and the future continues to be bright for Mason Girls Basketball.

Congrats to sophomore Margo Mattes, junior Kyla Oldacre and senior Mariyln Popplewell on being named 1st Team All-GMC this season. Congratulations also to senior CC Cary for being named 2nd Team All-GMC!

DISTRICT

@ Beaver-Vu Lanes

The Mason Boys Bowling team went to the District Championships at Beaver-vu Lanes on Wednesday with high hopes. Unfortunately the bowling gods did not smile on the team as they struggled to get anything going and did not qualify for state.

One shining star was Caden Graham who averaged 211 on the day. His 633 was 30th overall but not enough to carry a team where the next highest bowler was Nate Shockey with a 587 three game series.

Mason boys had a great season, tied for first in the GMC and the highest pergame total in the GMC. The team is already looking forward to making great strides for next year.
